HURON — Jasmine Snow and Jemma Keleher, juniors at Huron High School, have been selected as journalists for the 72nd American Legion Auxiliary S.D. Girls State session May 28-June 2.
Snow and Keleher will spend the week on the campus of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion as part of Journalism City. Their primary objective for the week will be to produce and gather the news to publish the Girls State daily paper, Sacajawea Scroll. They will also participate in a roundtable luncheon each day with representatives from various branches of media (newspaper, magazine, radio and television).
The young women are currently junior editors of the HHS newspaper, Tiger Stripes, and they are both interested in pursuing careers in journalism.
