HURON – The top-ranked school in Class B girls to end the regular season, the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars punched their ticket to the state tournament with a 49-33 victory Thursday night over the Timber Lake Panthers at the Huron Arena in SoDak 16 action.

The Jaguars move to 21-2 on the season with the victory. Raven Barse lead Corsica-Stickney with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Rachel Gerlach added in 11 points and Payton Delange chipped in 10 points.

Shay Kraft paced the Panthers with a game-high 16 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Timber Lake finishes 13-9 on the season.

HURON – The Hanson Beaverettes, the fifth-ranked team in Class “B” girls at the end of the regular season, will be heading to the state tournament after a resounding 59-28 victory over the Faith Lady Longhorns Thursday at the Huron Arena in SoDak 16 action.

Mekiah Campbell led three Hanson (19-3) players in double figures with 18 points while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds. Annalyse Weber came off the bench to score 15 points for the Beaverettes and Alyssa Moschell added 10 points.

Faith finishes the season with a 13-10 record. Ariah Engel led the way for the Lady Longhorns with 10 points. TyAnn Mortenson grabbed four rebounds.

WATERTOWN – The De Smet Lady Bulldogs ran into a buzzsaw on Thursday night, as the top-seeded Castlewood Warriors took a 40-17 lead at halftime en route to a 65-37 victory in SoDak 16 action in Watertown to earn a trip to the girls State “B” Basketball Tournament in Huron.

The Warriors were led by Alayna Benike with game highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Castlewood will enter the tournament undefeated at 20-0 on the year as Darah DeKam added in 18 points.

The Lady Bulldogs finish the year with a record of 11-12. Kennadi Buchholz led De Smet with 15 points and eight rebounds.

IPSWICH – The Redfield Pheasants could never get the offense going in their SoDak 16 matchup Thursday, falling 50-15 to the Aberdeen Roncalli Lady Cavaliers in Ipswich.

Olivia Hanson led the way for Roncalli, who qualifies for the Class “A” state tourney with the victory, with 13 points. The Lady Cavaliers move to 20-2 on the season with Madelyn Bragg adding 12 points and Elissa Hammrich pitching in 10 points.

Bragg grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Lady Cavs.

Faith Jandel topped the scoring column for the Pheasants with six points. Addison Rozell grabbed nine rebounds to pace Redfield, who finishes the season 16-7.
