The American Red Cross partnered with the Huron Fire Department and installed 67 smoke alarms in 23 homes in the southwest corner of Huron on Saturday, Oct 5.
The program, called Sound the Alarm, was launched in 2014 by the American Red Cross. Huron participated in the first year and has become a role model for other communities.
Across the country, 638 lives have been saved, 1,915,555 smoke alarms have been installed in 793,343 homes. Huron does two Sound the Alarm events each year.
