WESSINGTON SPRINGS — With three golfers in the top five, Wessington Springs won the boys’ title in an 18-hole tournament on Thursday.
The Spartans finished at 224 to finish 17 strokes ahead of second-placed James Valley Christian. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton was third with 252.
Ryan Stahl earned the medalist honors for JVC with a 72.
Blake Larson of Wessington Springs was second at 73, followed by teammates Jacob Messmer and Brock Krueger with scores of 75 and 76, respectively.
Jevin Goertz was sixth for JVC with a 79, while Ethan Bartholow shot a 90.
Ethan Schmiedt of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was eighth with an 88, while teammates Collin Schmiedt and Xavier Baysinger finished at 103 and 120, respectively.
Teagan Mason of Iroquois/Doland was ninth with an 89, while Tyler Fastnacht of Wessington Springs shot a 103.
James Valley Christian won the girls’ title with 288. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton was second at 312.
Angela Munsen of Kimball/White Lake was the top girls’ golfer with an 83. Olivia Rink of JVC used a scorecard playoff to claim the second spot over teammate Angelina Zuccaro Both had scores of 86.
Dayton Easton of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was sixth an 102, followed by Cheyenne Burg of Wessington Springs at 105.
Lily Hofer of JVC shot 116 and Kirstie Munsen of Wessington Springs had a 117.
