HURON — Star E. Jones, 64 of Huron, passed away Sunday August 26, 2018, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 30, at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in the Riverside Cemetery at Huron. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Welter Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Star E. Ericksen was born January 18, 1954, in Huron to Herbert and Pauline (Neitzert) Ericksen. She attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1972. She received an Associates of Arts Degree in Business from the Northwest College of Commerce in Huron. Star worked as an office secretary for several businesses including, Magness Livestock, Concrete Products, A and M Radio, Sioux Falls Family Vision and the Huron Eye Clinic until her illness forced her to retire in 2018
She was united in marriage to Merele Jones September 12, 2008. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, and the Manford Music Women’s Bowling Team. Star loved bowling, gardening, playing cards, and playing the organ.
She is survived by her husband, Merele Jones of Huron; daughter, Dawn (Chad) Hvam of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Camden and Cayden; cousin, Linda Erling; many cousins; and her godmother, Betty Heisel
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Pauline.
