HURON — After just setting a new high mark one week ago, the numbers released in Tuesday’s South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 numbers showed the state bested its highest single-day new positive case mark by more than 1,000.
The state reported 4,110 new positive cases and 854 new recovered cases to see the active cases in the state jump over the 20,000 mark, to 20,475.
Previous single-day high marks followed a holiday weekend report, but Tuesday’s new high mark was the result of a typical Tuesday report that included Friday afternoon through Monday morning reporting to DOH.
Beadle County noted 27 new positive cases and 25 new recovered cases Tuesday. Active cases in the county bumped up slightly, to 266.
The Heartland Region recorded 78 new positive cases and 54 new recovered cases. Active cases in the seven-county region have ballooned to 573.
