Stephen 'Steve' Larson, 69, of Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Stephen “Steve” Kent Larson, 69, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.    
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen. The Rev. Fr. Michael Griffin will officiate. Inurnment will be in Wessington Cemetery at Wessington at a later date. There will be a liturgical wake Thursday at 7 p.m. with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  
Honorary Urn bearers will be Steve’s grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The organist will be Stephanie Raap and the cantor is Camille Fischer. There will be special music by Roger and Ross Florhaug and the readers will be Kristi Rowen and Kyrsten Fokken.
Stephen Kent Larson, son of Delton and Audrey (Muhs) Larson was born March 24, 1949, at Huron. He grew up in Wessington, graduating from Wessington High School with the class of 1967.  
Steve was united in marriage to Sharon Parmely at Huron in 1967. He then attended and graduated from Huron College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He then began his career in the banking industry working at First State Bank in Miller, moving to Platte in 1972, and to Cooperstown, N.D. from 1973 to 1993. In 1993, Steve began working in Leola for CorTrust Bank where he was still currently employed.  
Steve was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco 49ers. He had several enjoyments including golf, pheasant hunting, fishing and watching sport events but spending time with family and friends was what he treasured most.
Steve attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a former city council member at Cooperstown, N.D. and former member of Cooperstown Jaycees. While living in North Dakota, he had been the Red Cross Regional Coordinator of Griggs County.  
Grateful for having shared Steve’s life is his significant other, Nancy Scott of Aberdeen; mother, Audrey Larson of Huron; three sons and two daughters, Duke (Gail Loftsgard) Larson of Jamestown, N.D., Troy (Jodi) Larson of Cooperstown, N.D., Leslee (Bruce) Bonebright of Sauk Rapids, Minn., Trent Larson of Fargo, N.D., and Tara (Jeff Carroll) Larson of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Doug (Hope) Larson of Bowdle, and Jeff (Jean) Larson of Huron; two sisters, Tracy Larson of Huron and Lynne (Mike) Rowen of Manson, Iowa; Nancy’s grandchildren and Steve’s special girls, Lindsay Scott, and Elly Scott; and nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Delton; Nancy’s daughter, Amy Scott; and two nephews, Kyle Rowen, and Brad Fernholz.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice.
