Steve R. Swisher, 71, of Huron

HURON — Steve R. Swisher, 71, of Huron, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Lawrenceville, Ga., surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday at the American Lutheran Church. A private burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at Aberdeen. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
He was born October 2, 1945, in Vermilion, to Clark, Sr. and Doris Swisher. He attended Northern State College in Aberdeen.
In 1966 he married Diane Woods, in Aberdeen.
He retired in 2001 after 25 years in the Huron Public School System and was honored for his accomplishments when he was inducted into the Huron High School Hall of Fame in 2012.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharee (Alan) Boyle, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Kristi (Vyto) Gorinas, Lawrenceville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Clark and Dan Swisher; one sister, Becky Swisher; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Swisher; his parents; three brothers, Kim, Joel and Scott Swisher; and a sister, Wendy Swisher.
