MADISON — Sylvia Mae (Parish) Cooley, 105, of Madison passed away Friday, May, 12, 2017, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, at the Beach United Methodist Church in Howard. A Committal service will be 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.
Sylvia Mae Parish was born October, 2, 1911, at Fort Pierre to Ivan and Rose (Larson) Parish. She graduated from Howard High School in 1930 and from Mankato Commercial College in 1933. She was united in marraige to Laurence Cooley in 1934.
In 1962, she was appointed deputy Clerk of Courts and deputy magistrate for Lake County,  retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Art Class, the Rip-n-Ravel Extension club, the South Dakota Poetry Society, the Church of the Nazarene.
She was survived by her children, Nancy Jacobson of Howard, and Patricia (Maynard) Stock of Piedmont, Jerry (Judy) of Brookings; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; two great–great-great-daughters; two nieces and two nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; three sisters; two brothers; son-in-law Ronald Jacobson; great-grandson Ryan Cooley; and many wonderful friends.
