HURON — Thomas John Palmer Sr., 68, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, after losing his struggle with liver failure.
Thomas was born to Doug and Rita (Huesgen) Palmer on August 10, 1951, in Huron.
He worked at the family jewelry store, Huesgens, until its closing. He then worked as a field engineer after completing school while raising a young family. He enjoyed working with his hands and repairing clocks and jewelry. He loved to find old, neglected clocks and bring them back to beautiful, working condition. He was always fixing something and loved going to the hardware store.
Once he had grandchildren, building extravagant Legos with them became his passion. He always put his family before anything and will be extremely missed by all he came into contact with.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rhonda; five children, Lori Streff, Lisa Salvato (Martial), Krista Brander (Trista), Thomas John Palmer Jr., and Jennifer Baker (Kevin); nine grandchildren, Jacob and Kylee Streff, Robert Buchanan, Ella and Avery Salvato, Kaitlyn Palmer, Charles, Bailee, and Hanna Baker; one great granddaughter, Gwenevere Jones; two sisters, Pam Kohnen and Peggy Irvin; and two brothers, Steve Palmer and William Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Rita (Huesgen) Palmer.
