Tigers baseball opens postseason play

HURON — The Huron Tigers will be the No. 14 seed for the High School Spring Baseball Class A Region Tournament, which will be held today at the home of the top four seeds.
The Tigers will square off against third-seeded Harrisburg at noon today in the opening round of Region 3, with the winner advancing to the region title game at 5 p.m., today.
In the other half of the half of the Region 3 bracket, sixth-seeded Mitchell will face No. 11 Rapid City Stevens at 2:30 p.m., in Harrisburg.
In Region 1, No. 8 Sioux Falls Lincoln will face No. 9 Brookings at Hyde Stadium in Pierre at noon today. Pierre, which is the top seed in the tournament, will play No. 16 Douglass at 2:30 p.m., with the winners to meet for the region title at 5 p.m.
Sioux Falls Washington, which is the fourth seed overall, will face No. 13 Sioux Falls Roosevelt at noon today at Harmodon Field in Sioux Falls. No. 5 Brandon Valley will face No. 12 O’Gorman in a Region 4 matchup at 10 a.m., today, with the championship slated for 2 p.m.
Yankton is the No. 2 overall seed and will host the Region 2 Tournament. The Bucks will face No. 15 Rapid City Central at noon today, with the matchup between No. 7 Sturgis and No. 10 Sioux Falls Jefferson to follow at 2 p.m.
The Region 2 title game is slated for 5 p.m.
The four region champions will advance to the Class A State Tournament, which is scheduled for May 27 at Sioux Falls Stadium.
