HURON — The Huron Tiger baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Brookings Bobcats Wednesday night. The Bobcats took the opener 5-2, and posted a 13-0 shutout in a 10-run-rule shortened second game.
Individual stats for Huron were not available for either game.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first game, but then saw Brookings score three runs in the fourth and add single runs in the sixth and seventh. The Bobcats had nine hits to five for Huron.
Defensively in the opener, Mason Davis went six innings, striking out four Bobcats before being relieved by Elliot DeVries in the seventh inning.
DeVries made the start for Huron in the nightcap, struggling through two-and-a-third innings, before being relieved in the third by Jeran Sammons. Brookings scored nine runs in the second and third innings, combined en route to the win. The Bobcats connected for 11 hits, while the Tigers collected one hit and committed three errors in the game.
Huron hosts Madison and Castlewood and noon and 4 p.m. Sunday.
