HURON — The Huron Tigers’ boys’ soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the Pierre Governors Thursday evening at Tiger Stadium.
Pierre took the lead early in the game, but Huron evened the score on a Sha Mu goal, assisted by Ronaldo Pineda to end the half at 1-1.
The two teams stayed even, but Pierre was able to sneak in the deciding goal, in the 57th minute of play.
“We did a good job of maintaining possession of the ball tonight,” said Tiger coach Leah Branaugh. “Pierre has a great goalie and it is tough to get anything past him. The game got physical tonight and we struggled at time, missing some scoring opportunities and making some defensive mistakes.”
Alex Bautista had seven saves for the Tigers, who fall to 4-3 on the season. The team is back in action at Harrisburg on Thursday.
Huron’s JV team claimed a 4-1 win, as Ta Ha Saw scored twice and both Aung Htoo and Biat Say hit the back of the net twice.
Huron’s girls’ varsity team fell to 0-7 on the season, with a 7-0 loss to Pierre.
