Tigers finish 1-1 at Milbank Triangular

MILBANK — The Huron girls’ tennis team went 1-1 during a triangular on Tuesday.
The Tigers opened with a 9-0 victory against Milbank.

Huron’s No. 1 singles player AnneClaire Rubish returned to the lineup after sitting out the last two events with an injury.

“It was a great win against Milbank,” Huron coach Rachel Kary said. “AnneClaire is back and pulled out a great win at No. 1 in a tiebreaker.”

The Tigers then came up just short against Sioux Falls Christian, who inked a 6-3 victory.

“They are a tough team, but we played very well,” Kary said. “We were able to get some wins.”

Elizabeth Heinen at No. 2 recorded the lone singles win for Huron. She then teamed with Rubish to record a 10-9 in No. 1 doubles using a 7-5 tiebreaker.

Say Glay and Paw Kler Moo secured the other win for the Tigers in No. 3 doubles.

Huron will be back in action Thursday with its lone home meet of the season. The Tigers will face Rapid City Christian in a dual at Winter Park Courts, beginning at 4 p.m.
