Tigers finish fourth in Huron Invitational

HURON — With 10 individual place winners, including two champions, the Huron wrestling team finished fourth in the Huron Invitational on Saturday at Huron Arena.
Winner won the event with 236 points, while Aberdeen Central was second at 166.5. Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon was third at 161.5, followed by Huron at 152 and Madison at 143.
Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington, which had three wrestlers vying for titles, was seventh in the 13-team event with 120, while Clark/Willow Lake was ninth at 66.

Moses Gross at 106 pounds and Tyson Lien at 170 claimed individual titles for the Tigers, while Blake Larsen reached the championship match at 182 and finished second.
Lucas Hofer at 145 and Sebastian Cardona at 285 were third for Huron, while Will Radke was fifth at 120. Jaren Sammons at 126, Dominic Aviles at 132, Jose Gonzales at 152 and Kam Christensen at 195 were all sixth for the Tigers.
Reaching championship matches for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington were Keegan Haider at 138, Carter Grohs at 152 and Quinten Christensen at 220. They all finished second.
Joey Hoverson at 120 and Seth Tebay at 170 were third for WS/W/W-W, while Brock Stevens at 281 and Landon Wolter at 160 were fifth and sixth, respectively.
Gunnar Kvistad at 106 and Gage Burke at 160 were third for Clark/Willow Lake, while Charlie Spieker at 145 was fourth and Avery Nichols at 285 was fifth.
All three of the area teams will now head into the postseason. Huron will be at the Region 3A Tournament on Saturday in Aberdeen, while Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington will be at the Region 3B Tournament in Winner on Saturday and Clark/Willow Lake will be at the Region 1B Tournament in Sisseton on Saturday.
