BRANDON — The Huron wrestling team opened the 2019 portion of its schedule with a fourth-place finish in the Dan Pansch/Jesse James Invitational on Saturday.
Canton won the event with 254 points, while Fairmont-Martin County West of Minnesota was second at 229. Chamberlain was third in the 19-team event, with 164.5, followed by Huron at 153.5 and Harrisburg at 126.5.
Tyson Lien claimed an individual title for the Tigers at 152 pounds. He recorded a 5-3 decision against Caden Ideker of West Central in the championship match.
Parker Broer also reached the championship match at 220 for Huron. He suffered a pin in 42 seconds by Marshall Baldwin of Canton during the championship match.
Gabe Rieger was third for Huron at 182, while Cole Ochsner at 120 and Chipper Shillingstad at 138 were both fourth.
Rounding out the list of placers for the Tigers were Daynon Huber at 145 (fifth); Matthew Katz at 160 (sixth); Devyn Balster at 195 (sixth); and Jaren Sammons at 113 (seventh).
The Huron wrestlers will return to action Friday with a 7 p.m. Match at Brookings.
