HURON — Aberdeen Central had five players and Huron had four players selected to the All-Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer team, which was announced Thursday.
The Golden Eagles finished on top the conference standings with a 7-1 record, while the Tigers were fourth with a 5-2 mark.
“I was happy Huron had four selections on this team. There are so many deserving players on our team, as well as in the ESD,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “Our guys had a great season and really stepped up when they needed to.”
Senior Eduardo Trujillo was named to the All-ESD team for the second consecutive year for the Tigers. He had a team-highs with 15 goals and nine assists from his midfielder position.
Other seniors selected to the team for Huron were Thai Say, who is a center midfielder and Aung Min, who play center defender. Say tallied eight goals and had three assists, while Min had a pair of goals.
Also selected to the All-ESD team for the Tigers was sophomore Sha Sher, who finished with 13 goals and four assists as a striker.
“Eduardo and Sha Sher really led our offense this season,” Branaugh said. “Eduardo is a player that never gives up on any ball and Sha Sher is developing into a great player as well.
“Thai is one of our more aggressive players and not afraid to battle anyone for the ball,” she said. “Aung Min has been such a great defender for the past three seasons. It is tough to get a ball past him on the defensive end and he uses his speed and athleticism to his advantage.”
Brandon Valley (4-3) also had four players, while Watertown (4-1) had three players named to the team, while Pierre (3-3-1) and Yankton (6-2) each had two players and Mitchell (0-8) had one player.
