Tigers sweep Big Four Volleyball Tournaments

Seventh-graders bring home title

MITCHELL — The Huron seventh-grade volleyball team went 3-0 to claim the championship during the Big Four Tournament on Saturday.
The Tigers used set scores of 25-13 and 25-11 to defeat Mitchell.
Bryn Huber had seven aces to lead Huron, while Karsyn Kopfmann added five aces. Isabelle Ellwein had three aces, while Heavan Gainey was perfect on six serves with an ace.
Brynn Gose led the Tigers with four kills. Gainey was 2 of 3 attacking with a kill, while Ellwein was 2 of 5 hitting.
Huron used set scores of 25-14 and 25-11 to get past Brookings.
Huber was perfect on 17 serves with four aces for the Tigers, while Ellwein had two aces. Gose was 7 of 8 attacking with two kills, while Gainey was 2 of 2.
Huron swept Watertown with set scores of 25-10 and 25-15.
Gose had five aces, while Huber added three aces. Janes, Gainey and Mady Schroder each had an ace.

Ellwein had a pair of kills, while Gainey had a kill.
Gose and Kopfmann each had a kill as well for the Tigers.

Eighth grade claims championship

MITCHELL — The Huron Tiger eighth-grade volleyball team went 3-0 on the day - dropping only one set in the process - to win the Big Four Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Gracie Culver had four kills and a block, Emily Dale added three kills and Kenya Bigelow had four aces as Huron took out Mitchell in straight sets, 25-20 and 25-8 to open play.
Reese Rozell and Brylee Hamilton each had two digs on the defensive end for Huron.

The Tigers then dispatched Brookings 2-1, with set scores of 25-14, 21-25 and 15-7.
Dale led the offense with five kills while Bigelow added four kills.
Jazz McGirr and Culver each added three ace serves to aid the Tiger effort, while Hamilton led the defense with three digs
Huron shut out Watertown 25-12 and 25-14, with an overall team effort.
Dale had three kills, while McGirr and Bigelow each added two kills.
Bigelow added five ace serves and had two digs for the defense, while Hamilton also had a pair of digs.
