HURON — A free community presentation on understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) trauma will take place Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Holy Trinity Catholic School.
The presentation will be made by Shelly Fuller, a social worker in the Huron School District and a certified ACE Master Trainer, as well as Lisa Sanderson, an Act Early Ambassador in South Dakota for the Center of Disease Control, speaking about Learning the Signs to Act Early (LTSAE).
ACEs are are common, but Fuller will detail how they are not defining for a student’s future or potential, and how education and prevention are essential to creating a healthier society for generations.
LTSAE resources support the work of child care providers, early educators and parents to monitor child development.
The presentation is sponsored by the United Way Heartland Region. Call 352-3537 with questions or to register for the event. RSVPs are encouraged but not required.
