First UMC youth plan breakfast fundraiser
HURON — A pancake breakfast fundraiser for a First United Methodist Church youth mission trip is planned from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at First UMC.
A freewill donation will be accepted for the meal. All proceeds will fund a youth mission trip to Racine, Wis., June 16-23 to help with flood recovery work.
The event will include a silent auction featuring a metal eagle sculpture, chainsaw bear carving, gift certificates and more. For more information contact 352-8604 or [email protected]

Girl Scouts plan cookie sales at Runnings
HURON — Girl Scout Troop No. 50027 is planning its annual fundraiser and cookie sales Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11, at Runnings, coinciding with the store’s Customer Appreciation Days.
Get a hotdog and pop for a quarter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and find Girl Scout Cookies at the booth from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Woonsocket library to hold book sale
WOONSOCKET — A Friends of the Library book sale is planned from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the Woonsocket Community Library located in the school commons. Books will be available for a freewill donation.

Night of Superiors planned at HHS
HURON — The Huron High School Music Department’s annual Night of Superiors is planned at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in the HHS Auditorium. This is a date change from the original calendar released by the school district.

Hitchcock UMC to host blood drive Monday
HITCHCOCK — The Hitchcock American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a community blood drive from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the Hitchcock United Methodist Church.
United Blood Services provides free cholesterol screening with each donation. Donors can compete their health history the day of their donation by visiting www.unitedbloodservices.org.

NAMI-Huron plans Super Bowl party
HURON — NAMI-Huron is having a Super Bowl party from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Drop-In Center, 255 Iowa Ave. S.E. There will be games while the Super Bowl is playing for those interested. Refreshments will be served and people are invited to bring a snack to share.

Order a Singing Valentine and help HHS Tri-M honor society
HURON — Tell your special someone that you care on Feb. 14 with a Singing Valentine by members of the Huron High School Concert Choir.
For $20 anyone can hire a Singing Valentine, comprised of six or eight Concert Choir volunteers who will serenade the valentine of your choice, also presenting them with a rose and a card with a personal message from the sender.
Call the HHS office at 353-7800, or stop by the school to schedule a Singing Valentine on Feb. 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also contact HHS vocal music director Molly Stueckrath at [email protected]
All orders must be placed and paid for by Feb. 9.
The Singing Valentines are a fundraising project for the Tri-M Honor Society, which is in its fifth year at HHS. The honor society is through the National Association of Music Education.

Donations sought for Royal Family Kids fundraising rummage sale
HURON — Now is a great time to clear out the clutter by donating good, used items for a rummage sale fundraiser on Saturday to support the Royal Family Kids Camp.
Royal Family Kids Camp is held each summer for foster children. The rummage sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Auto Body Clinic, 670 21st St. S.W.
All items donated must be in good, clean condition and labeled. Baked goods are welcome.
Please drop items off at the Auto Body Clinic by Monday, if possible. Anything not sold or picked up by 6 p.m. Saturday will be donated to the Salvation Army.
