HURON — Verna M. Rodman, 83, of Huron, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at her residence.
A memorial service to celebrate Verna’s Life will be 1p.m., Friday, June 1, at the Welter Home in Huron with inurnment following in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday.
Verna Mae Oechsle, the daughter of LeRoy and Hazel (Payne) Oechsle, was born on May 20, 1935, on the family farm in Spink County. She attended schools in Redfield and Hitchcock, graduating from Hitchcock High School. Verna also attended Huron College.
Verna was united in marriage to (Frank) Blair Rodman November 11, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron. They made their home in Huron where she worked as a bank employee, bookkeeper, and merchandiser.
Verna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron for over sixty years. She was also a member of the Moose Club and several different dance clubs. Verna enjoyed music, dancing and attending Polka Festivals. She was an avid walker, gardener, and woodworker.
Grateful for having shared in Verna’s life are her sons, Mike (Norene) Rodman of Rapid City, and Greg (Deb) Rodman of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Martie Stulken of Aurora; five grandchildren, Emily and Zach Rodman, Matthew Stulken, and Taryn and Blake Rodman; stepgrandson, Troy (Kari) Stulken; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Megan and Molly; three sisters, Gladys Swope, Mona (Jerome) Kleinsasser, and Sharolyn (Don) Johnson; brother, Dale (Margaret) Oechsle; brother-in-law, Veryl (Kay) Eschen; and other family and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Blair; three sisters, Lavonne, Margie, and Doris; four brothers, Junior, Galen, Donnie, and Dick; and son-in-law, Dean Stulken.
