HURON — Vernon Ernest Blondell, 76, of Huron,  passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron, South Dakota.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Vernon Ernest Blondell was born October 24, 1940, at Shelton, Wash. to Ernest and Lyla (Jones) Blondell. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Wash.
He enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in England where he was a weather observer. He returned to Washington and was united in marriage to Barbara Haak  February 7, 1969, at Burley, Wash. To this union two daughters were born, Vanessa and Michelle.
The couple lived in Port Orchard where Vernon worked for the shipping yards as a fireman. He retired from this when he was 50, at this time, Vernon and Barbara moved to South Dakota and made their final home in Huron.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Huron; two daughters, Vanessa Rosemore of Huron, and Michelle (Mike) Conan of Sherwood, Ore.; four grandchildren, Mason, Luke, Dane, and Annabelle Conan; brother, Sanford (Vicky) Blondell of North Fork, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
