REDFIELD — Vesta “Chick” Solheim, 83, of Redfield, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 17, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Frankfort. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m. to accept condolences.  
Vesta “Chick” Ida Gavette was born February 21, 1934, in Frankfort to Cecil and Ramona (White) Gavette. She lived most of her childhood in Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort High School. She was united in marriage to Hans Solheim March 29, 1952. She was a bookkeeper for many years at Wheat Growers in Frankfort. She was an Eastern Star member as well as a Red Hatter.  
She is survived by her husband, Hans; children,  Penny Swope of Cottonwood, Minn., and Tony (Denise) Solheim of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Joey Benedict of Albany, Ore.; brothers-in-law, Oscar (Bernice) Solheim and Marlin Solheim; and sisters-in-law, Jan (Gene) Rich and Jan (Robert) Patterson.  
She was preceded in death by her sons, Terry and Michael Solheim; and her grandson, Kraig Solheim.
