HURON — Virginia E. Hofer, 89, of Huron, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be 7 p.m., Thursday, December 14, at Huron First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the Huron First Assembly of God Church Thursday evening. 
Virginia Eva Holly was born July 10, 1928, in Sanborn County to Rufus and Louisa (Huether) Holly. She attended Huron High School and graduated from Huron College in 1953 earning her teacher certification. In 1961, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Evangel College in Springfield, Mo. and later earned a Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1969. She dedicated over 50 years to her teaching career and retired from the Huron School District.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Hofer June 2, 1948. Kenneth was tragically killed on August 29, 1951, while working as a brakeman for the railroad. She was a member of Huron First Assembly of God Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, teacher training instructor, organist, choir member, Christian education board member, and Deacon board member.
She is survived by nieces; nephews; and her Huron First Assembly of God Church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, infant brother Rufus Holly, and Russell Holly; and brother-in-law, Bruce Hofer.
