ST. JOHN, N.D. — Vivian Krech, 58, of St. John, N.D.,  passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2018, at her home. Upon her death, Vivian was surrounded with the deepest love from her husband and her children.
Vivian Lee Krech was born October 7, 1959, to Joseph A. and Dorothy A. (Thene) Buchl. She was one of fourteen children. Vivian grew up in Rock Lake, N.D. and completed her education there as well, graduating in 1977. She furthered her education at the University of North Dakota, obtaining a degree in Elementary and Special Education.
Vivian met Gerald Krech in the summer of 1979 while at the lake with many Rock Lake and Rolla friends. Their friendship grew when they returned to the UND campus, “Go Sioux,” that fall. Following graduation and a short long-distance relationship, they finally settled down and were married August 13, 1983. Together they raised a son, Evan and a daughter, Danielle, whom she loved with all her heart. They lived in Rolla, Hettinger, Rugby, Huron, and Watertown until moving back to their roots and to their dream home at Lake Upsilon.
Vivian taught in several different cities and touched the lives of many children through her 30 plus years of teaching. She enjoyed spending time with many friends, the Investment Club Village and the Mahjong Groupies. Vivian enjoyed spending fun times with her brothers and sisters; but it is well known that coffee hour started at 5 a.m. It was at this time that Vivian would share all her humorous stories and everyone would get their daily dose of laughter. She was so proud of her children and loved her husband dearly, treasuring all the time they spent together at home and on adventures.  Vivian will be forever remembered for her vibrant personality, her never ending courage, and her love of life.
Vivian is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Krech of St. John; son, Evan Krech of Bismarck; daughter, Danielle Krech of Sioux Falls; mother, Dorothy; brothers, Joseph (D’etta) Buchl of Olympia, Wash., and David (Stacy) Buchl of Grand Forks; sisters, Carol (Bob) Blake of Wales, June (Jim) Hager of Velva, Sharon Nichols of Fargo, Donna (Jeff) Gage of Prescot, Ariz., Susan (Steve Zabawa) Sullivan of Billings, Mont., Nina (Mike) DeRouchey of Hoven, Jeanette (Terry) Haas of Fergus Falls, Minn., Marjorie (Eric) Johnson of Bismarck, Nancy Buchl of Billings, Mont., and Paula (Duane) Wilkie of Rolla; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Cheryl) Krech of Rolla, and Greg (Lynne Stricherz) Krech of Huron; sister-in-law, G’Ann (Albert) Bjorkdahl of Greenville, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Buchl; sister, Colette Buchl; brothers-in-law, Tom Mattern, and Roger Sullivan; and mother and father-in-law, Georgiann and Leonard Krech.
