HURON — The Warner Monarchs took their first post-season step back toward repeating as Class “B” State Volleyball champions Tuesday night, with a dominating 25-10, 25-13, 25-19 win over the Freeman Flyers in SoDak 16 Class “B” volleyball action at Huron Arena.
The Monarchs scored the first six points of the first set and coasted to the easy win. Freeman came out refocused for the second set and led Warner in the early part of the set, before the defending champions had a 9-0 run to put some daylight in the score.
The third set was nip-and-tuck most of the way as Warner was unable to shake the pesky Flyers. The Monarchs closed the set on a 6-1 run, however, to post the win and punch their ticket to next week’s State Tournament in Rapid City.
