Watertown holds off Post 7

WATERTOWN — With five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth inning, Watertown Post 17 pulled away for a 12-5 victory against Huron Post 7 in an American Legion baseball matchup on Tuesday.
Brennan Gabriel powered the attack for Post 17 with three hits, including a grand slam, home run an da double. He accounted for five of the 12 runs.
Parker Schmidt had a pair of hits, including a double, while Brayden Shriver and Colton McClemans each had a pair of hits.
Chipper Shillingstad and A Vazquez led Huron offensively with a pair of hits each. Walker Schiltz doubled for the only extra-base hit of the game for Post 7, who finished with eight hits.

Blake Holden pitched the first six innings for Watertown, allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
Jacob Tisher pitched a scoreless seventh inning for Post 17, giving up just one hit with one strikeout.
Schiltz limited Watertown to just three runs through the first four innings. He recorded an out in the fifth inning before being relieved by Shillingstad for the rest of the contest.
Schiltz allowed eight runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts and two walks, while Shillingstad gave up four uns on three hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
Huron is scheduled to return to action with a 6 p.m. game against Aberdeen on Friday at Memorial Park Stadium.
