Huron dance team places second at Watertown Invitational

WATERTOWN — The Huron dance team edged Sioux Falls Lincoln for the second spot during the Watertown Cheer and Dance Invitational on Tuesday at the Watertown Civic Arena.
Sioux Falls Washington was the grand champion in the dance competition with a score of 266.5. The Tigers snagged the second spot with a score of 233.83, while Lincoln was third at 233.5.
Rounding out the top five in the 13-team competition were Harrisburg at 230.33 and Sioux Falls O’Gorman at 224.5.
The Huron dance team used strong performances in hip hop and pom to move to near the top of the standings.
The Tigers were second in hip hop with a score of 244 and second in pom at 230. They were sixth in jazz with a score of 227.5.
Sioux Falls Washington was also the grand champion in the cheer competition, finished with a score of 254.5. Sioux Falls Roosevelt was second just four points back, while Sioux Falls O’Gorman was third at 248.5. Brookings was fourth at 248, followed by Brandon Valley at 239.
The Huron cheer team used a score of 211 to finish seventh in the 14-team field.
