FRANKFORT — Wayne Lee Ragatz, 82, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Redfield.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Frankfort. Visitation with family present, will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.
Wayne Lee Ragatz was born February 18, 1935, in Frankfort to Edwin (E.F.) and Mabel (Luxton) Ragatz. He graduated in 1953 as valedictorian from Frankfort High School.
He began farming in 1953, and was united in marriage to Carol Duerkop in 1956. He proudly served with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Methodist Men and was a Harmony Township Clerk.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Robert (Lois) Ragatz of Frankfort, Brenda (Zane) Mason of Frankfort, and Jim (Rose) Ragatz of Aberdeen; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildrren; siblings, Myron (Charlene) Ragatz, and Norma Ganje; and sister-in-law, Erlene Ragatz, all of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis.
