HURON — Long time Woonsocket High School coach and administrator Rod Weber was inducted into the 281 Conference Hall of Fame during ceremonies Thursday night at Huron Arena.
Weber, who is the Superintendent, Principal and Activities Director for the Woonsocket school district, began his coaching career in 1996, as the head girls’ and assistant boys’ basketball coach in Iroquois.
In 1999, Weber took his talents to Woonsocket, where he was both girls’ and boys’ basketball head coach until the seasons changed in 2002. Since that time, through last season, Weber has been the boys’ head coach, a position he resigned after last season.

In his coaching career, Weber has a total of seven combined tournament and regular season 281 Conference boys’ basketball titles.
“I am grateful for this honor and I thank past and present 281 Conference coaches, administrators and athletic directors for all their hard work to make our conference one of the best in South Dakota,” Weber said.
He also thanked the Woonsocket community and school for allowing him to pursue his passions of coaching basketball and being an administrator for many years.
Weber and his wife Tara have two children, Tayla and Trey, both of whom are pursuing education degrees.
