Weinreis files for City Commission election

HURON — Huron resident Drew Weinreis has officially filed his petition and announced his candidacy for Huron City Commissioner.

Drew is a lifelong resident of Huron and if elected, he looks forward to bringing his expertise in Financial Services and Economic Development to the Commission, as well as his top priorities being the health, safety and well-being of our citizens.

Weinreis started his career with Dakotaland FCU in 2012, and is the Development Specialist in the Member Service Department for the Organization.

Weinreis has been very active in the Huron Community and currently serves as the board chairman for Huron Junior Achievement, sits on the Board of Directors for the Center For Independence, volunteers for Multiple Sclerosis Society, and is a Chamber Ambassador. 

Weinreis will seek election to the seat currently held by Commissioner Doug Kludt.

Prospective candidates for Huron’s City Commission have until Feb. 26 to file nominating petitions.

The city and school board combined election will take place on April 13.
