HURON — Weston David Songer, 2½ months, made his journey to Heaven Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Sanford Health NICU in Sioux Falls.

His Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church.
Visitation, with the family present, will be from 1 p.m. to the time of service at the church Tuesday afternoon.

Weston David Songer, son of Cody Songer and Ashley Waagen, was born April 7, 2022, in Kissimmee, Fla., while his mom, dad and big sister, Tatum, were enjoying a vacation. Weston traveled to Orlando to Nemours Children’s Hospital where he enjoyed the Florida sunshine for two months, before flying across the states to Sioux Falls, where he was loved on at Sanford Children’s NICU.

Weston was the sweetest and most cuddly little boy. He was the Kangaroo-athon Champ (winner of the most snuggles at Nemour’s Children’s Hospital.) Weston loved to have his head rubbed and get his feet tickled by his mom and dad. However, he did not like to have his nose touched! Some of his favorite books that were read to him were The Invisible String, The Smart Cookie, Shiloh and Old Yeller. His proud big sister Tatum loved to read to him. Weston loved to watch racing videos with his dad. His mom called him her “little storyteller, talking to us with his eyebrows and facial expressions.”

Weston will be missed by his parents, Cody and Ashley of Huron; proud big sisters, Tatum and Carlie Songer; and proud big brother, Nolan Songer; nana, Teri Waagen and Grandpa, David Waagen of Huron, grandma, Ruthie Songer and papa, Duane Songer of Huron; uncle, Joshua David (Sam Coats) Waagen of Huron; auntie, Tyanna “Ty-Ty” Wachter of Sioux Falls; aunt, Belinda (Jay Winter) Songer and their daughter and cousin, Luann Winter of Huron; uncles, Andrew, Jace, Elijah, and Kaden Songer of Huron; “uncle” Dalton Songer of Huron; and several great-aunts and uncles and cousins.

Greeting Weston in Heaven are his great-grandparents, Joan and Gordon Waagen, Betty and Donald Meyers, William Wooledge, Sr., Eunice Wooledge, Florence

Wooledge Patrick, Melvin Songer, and Rose Songer; and his cousin, Wade Waagen.
The family wishes to thank Sanford Children’s NICU and Nemour’s Children’s Hospital for all the wonderful, loving, tender care they provided the family during the past two and half months. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
