PARKSTON — The Kimball/White Lake WiLdKats took both the boys’ and the girls’ team titles Thursday, at the Ethan/Parkston Cross Country Invitational, led over the 5,000 meter course on the Parkston Country Club golf course.
K/WL scored 27 points to outdistance host Ethan/Parkston, with 38 points, to take the boys’ title. James Valley Christian finished third with 46 points, although JVC senior Daniel Ayoroa clocked a season best 16:04.23 to take individual medalist honors. Kade Watson of Winner ran second and Evan Bartelt was third.
Other Viking finishers in the boys’ race were Dax Frandsen, 13th; Monterio Gross in 14th; Joel Olson in 20th and Tayne Herrmann in 41st. Frandsen, Gross and Herrman all ran seasonal best times on Thursday.
The girls’ race was much closer, as Autumn Baker won the race for Kimball/White Lake, leading her team to the top spot by a single point over Ethan/Parkston. JVC was third in the girls’ team race as well, with 41 points.
Lindsy Roth of Ethan/Parkston finished second behind Baker, and JVC’s Abby Hasart ran third in the race.
Other JVC finishers behind Hasart included AbbyKate Hamilton in 14th, Hadasah Olson in 17th, Rhayonna Hood in 20th, Micaiah Brantner in 22 and Andie Aughenbaugh in 23rd. Several of the JVC girls, including Hasart, Olson, Brantner and Aughenbaugh set personal season marks in Thursday’s race.
The Vikings return to action Wednesday, when they compete at the Region 1B Meet in Webster.
