Wilma Cowan, 89, of Rapid City

 RAPID CITY — Wilma Vance Cowan, 89, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery will be at a later date.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Wilma Vance Cowan was born April 20, 1929, in Dupree to Carl and Lorna Vance. After graduation from Dupree High School in 1947, she attended Northern State College in Aberdeen. for one year. She was united in marriage to R.H. (Rock) Cowan, Jr. in 1948.
After moving to Huron, she participated in many musical activities. She was employed at the Music Center and later worked for the Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC). Her last position was Area Director for the American Cancer Society. She relocated to Rapid City and retired there in 1991.
She is survived by daughters, Jeanne (Kent Rasmussen) Cowan, and Cynthia Cowan both of Rapid City; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dean Vance, and Marilyn Wenlund both of Spearfish; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wilma was preceded in death by her siblings, Dale, Wayne, Shirley Menzel, Wanda Dexheimer, and Joyce Vance; and nephew, Darrell Dean Vance.
