Wolsey EMS Association awarded $7,500 grant

WOLSEY — Independent Insurance Agents of South Dakota (IIASD) awarded three $7,500 grants to South Dakota Fire Departments/Volunteer Emergency Medical Services.
IIASD’s Board of Directors selected Wolsey EMS Association $7,500 as one of the recipients of the award. Wolsey EMS Association will use the funds toward their Ambulance Fundraising Campaign.
Wolsey’s primary ambulance is out-of-commission. In order to re-build the ambulance, it will cost approximately $150,000. They are 20% toward their goal. The re-build will consist of a new chassis, leaving the existing patient box, which will cost considerably less than a new ambulance.
In the meantime, Wolsey is using the back-up ambulance to service their calls. Wolsey EMS is compromised of 12 volunteers taking on approximately 50 calls per year.
