Wolsey-Wessington upsets North Border in Class 9AA opener

FREDERICK — The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds posted a 52-14 upset win over the top-seeded North Border Titans Thursday night in Class 9AA football playoff action.
The Warbirds jumped out quickly, scoring four touchdowns before the Titans got on the board. Devante Luellman got the scoring started on a four-yard run and added a nine-yard score moments later. Luellman would end the game with three touchdowns, as he carried the ball 10 times for 35 yards.
Lynden Williams was the workhorse for Wolsey-Wessington, as he carried the ball 13 times for 186 yards, a trio of touchdowns - of 51 and 47 yards - and also scored on a 26-yard interception return for a score.
Quarterback Skylar Zomer carried six times for 118 yards and was 2/3 through the air for 39 yards.
Wolsey-Wessington, now 5-4, will move on in the football playoffs, while North Border, which was the regional top seed, sees its season end with a mark of 7-2.
