Wolsey-Wessington wins title at own tournament


WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington, which is the top-ranked team in Class B, went 4-0 en route to winning the title during the Wolsey-Wessington Tournament on Saturday.

In pool play, the Lady Warbirds recorded wins against Sioux Falls Lutheran, Marty and Mitchell Christian.
Wolsey-Wessington got past Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the title match.

Sanborn Central inked wins against Sunshine Bible Academy, Langford and Leola-Frederick to reach the title match.

Langford defeated Sioux Falls Lutheran for third place.

Potter County 3, Miller 1
MILLER — Potter County earned its sixth win of the season with a 3-1 victory against Miller on Saturday. The set scores were 25-17, 17-25, 25-23 and 25-18.

Makaivry Schatz and Tyler Simon each had nine kills for Potter County, which is now 6-2. Simon also had two aceson 10 of 11 serving, while Grace Goebel was perfect on 18 serves and Schatz was 7 of 7 with an ace.

Simon also had 15 assits, while Ashlee Kaup had 12 digs.

Patricia Lammers and Ally Mullaney each had 11 kills for Miller, which is now 1-4. Heather Resel was 17 of 18 serving with an ace, while Abbi Blake had an ace on 9 of 11 serves.

Tyra Gates converted on 120 of 121 sets and had 34 assists for the Rustlers. Jaden Werdel had 15 digs, while Payton Kilker and Gates each had 12 digs.

Miller will face Northwestern in Mellette on Tuesday.
