WATERTOWN — Myah Morris of Watertown took the top score in three of the four events Saturday, easily earning the all-around title at the Class AA State Gymnastics Meet on individual title day.
Morris won the vault with a score of 9.8, exceeding the 9.725 she scored to win the event at last year’s event, carding a 9.5 for the uneven parallel bars title and scoring a 9.725 on the balance beam en route to her 38.4 total score.
Rachel Gannon won the floor exercise for Brookings with a score of 9.6.
Second place in the all-around went to Maria Krall of Mitchell with a score of 37.175, and Lizzie Miller of S.F. O’Gorman was third with a 36.875.
Huron’s Erica Zell earned a top-10 finish in the all-around with a score of 35.25 to take 10th. She got scores of 9.0 on vault, placing her in a tie for seventh, scored an 8.675 on bars (tied for 12th), added an 8.850 on beam — good for an eighth-place tie — and scored an 8.725 on floor, placing her in a tie for 24th.
“Erica had a great bar routine and stood up her vault,” Huron coach Julie King said. “She ended the day with some pretty amazing hardware.”
Other Tiger scores on the final day of competition included Emily Lord, 7.5 on Bars, in 36th place, and Kassie Decker’s 7.325 on Beam, placing her 35th.
“Kassie competed in the beam and had a nice routine. She is a very dynamic gymnast and I am very impressed with her skills,” King said. “Emily Lord had a nice bar routine to finish out her senior year as a Huron Tiger gymnast. She added many new skills to her routine and did them well.”
