DE SMET — “This Ain’t Our First Rodeo” is the theme of the 133rd Old Settlers Days celebration in downtown De Smet. This year’s Old Settlers Days are set for this weekend, Friday through Sunday, June 9-11.

Old Settlers Day is the longest running celebration in South Dakota, with the traditional events still held and some new activities happening with something for everyone.

New events include a 5K Run/Jog/Walk with many prizes, the very popular Surfin’ Safari group performing in an outdoor concert at the Pageant Grounds and a performance of Shrek, the Musical JR, by the TADA School of Performing Arts.

The large ‘Show & Shine’ Car/Truck Show has become a great attraction as it has grown in size every year and the huge parade kicks off at noon to bring the traditional events.
