HURON — The Huron eighth-grade football team escaped with a 14-12 victory in overtime against Watertown on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers used a conversion pass from Josh Gilbert to Angel Sierra Rodriguez to secure the victory.
Gilbert opened the scoring for Huron with a 14-yard touchdown run.
Carter Porisch set up the game winning conversion attempt with a 2-yard touchdown run.
Gilbert finished the game with 50 yards passing and 75 yards on the ground for the Tigers, while Porisch had 46 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving. Rodriguez had 22 yards rushing, while Noah Hofer added 15 yards rushing.
Porisch led Huron defensively with eight tackles, while Gilbert had six tackles. Crosby Hartman and Max Roberts each had five tackles and Billy Tun had four tackles.
Huron, which is now 2-1, travels to play Brookings at 4:15 p.m., on Oct. 1.
