Huron, Mitchell boys' teams battle to a draw

HURON — After a scoreless, back-and-forth first half, Huron’s boys’ soccer team got on the board with 15 minutes to play, as a pass from Aung Myit found Mister Min and Min found the back of the net for the first score of the game.

Mitchell managed to get the evener 10 minutes later, as the Kernels scored on a corner kick and the game ended there, in a 1-1 tie.

“The boys played hard again tonight and we had another close game,” said Huron coach Leah Branaugh. “The team is coming around and this was a great all-around effort tonight.”

Eh Ja Beh Win stopped five shots in goal for the Tigers.

In the JV match, Huron ran away from Mitchell, by a score of 9-1. Jaxon Aung stopped five shots for the win, as Huron got two goals each from Yo Yo, Da Klow Htoo and Diego Menjivar Molina, with solo goals from Gabino Lopez Lopez, Tobias Soto and Htee Sah Htoo.

Girls
The Huron Tiger girls’ soccer team dropped to 0-8 on the season Thursday afternoon, with a 10-0 loss to the Mitchell Kernels at Tiger Stadium.

Wai Wai played the entire game in goal for Huron and ended with 19 saves.

The JV game went to Mitchell too, by a score of 3-0.

Naw Soe had nine saves in goal in the first half, turning the position over to Angela Reyes in the second half, when she had seven saves.
Huron’s soccer teams travel to Yankton on Saturday.
