Let the Burger Battle begin!

HURON — Roll up your sleeves and get ready to channel your inner Guy Fieri — It’s the Huron Burger Battle!

Burger Battles occur in more and more places and the first of what is expected to be an annual event is hosted by Huron Connect and Community Improvment, a groups affiliated with the Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau for business connections.

It will run through the end of February, so there is ample time to go and enjoy Huron’s best burgers.

Passports for the Burger Battle are available at the Huron Chamber - 17th and Dakota S.

This year’s contest is really two competitions rolled into one.

Only those passports which have been stamped by all of the participating restaurants will be eligible for the grand prize drawing.

We’ll get to that in a minute.

First, there is the Burger Battle for the restaurants.

When you go to enjoy one of the battle burgers, you will scan a QR code at each restaurant. When you do, you’re able to rank that establishment’s burger on a 5-point system from 1-5, with being the best. The categories are: patty, bun, toppings, creativity and customer service.

The burger must be made the exact same way each time it is ordered. No subttitutions can be made.

Those QR codes are located on the table tents at each restaurant and each customer can only vote once per restaurant.

Weekly updates will be provided to the restaurants on ranking, current scores, voting categories and comments.

The winning restaurant receives a trophy.

Customers can get their ‘Burger Passport’ punched after visiting each participating restaurant.  After filling their passport, their name gets entered in to win a BlackStone Griddle.

That is the second part of the competition.

When you have all of your passport stamps, turn it in at the Chamber and you are entered into a drawing for a new 28-inch Blackstone Griddle, sponsored by Rudy’s Towing of Huron.

Is your mouth watering yet? Let’s meet this year’s contenders for the First Annual Huron Burger Battle. Letters correspond to photos.
