To the Editor:

There are a number of reasons we vote people in or out of office.

A candidate’s performance or proposals on various issues are and should be important. These days the top issue is the economy and Donald Trump leads President Biden in the polls.

Let’s face it, under the Trump administration there was plenty of money. We had it and spent it. Credit card spending is fun and easy. But at some point, you must pay it off. Maxed plastic can quickly become painful on a personal level.

During the Trump years, America went on a spending spree all on plastic. Trump’s massive tax cut that the wealthiest 2% feasts upon is the primary reason. While Dusty Johnson claims the Trump years had the highest tax revenues in history, he has never been able to explain how America’s debt grew by $8 trillion in four short years.

That’s a thousand billion every six months.

Since January 20, 2021, President Biden’s programs lowered inflation to 3%; 3.9% unemployment rate, lowest in a half century (all-time low black unemployment under 5%), record highs on Wall Street for the last 18 months, 15 million new jobs.

Since January 2021, local service sector wages have increased from $11 to $12 to $16 to $18.

Our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose every year from $21.06T in 2020 to $27.78T in 2024.

(Projected).

President Biden is the only president to successfully take on big pharma, dropping insulin costs from $400/month to $35 for Medicare recipients. He now wants the same price for all insulin users. He is also planning to force big pharma to negotiate all prices as it must do with the Veterans Administration.

Not bad for an “Old Guy.”
