HURON — Horizon Health is pleased to welcome Patrick Koistinen, CNP, as a new provider at its Huron clinic.

In Huron Koistinen joins providers Ruth Lim, MD; Katie Stearns, CNP; Paul Brown, PA-C; and Amanda Adams, PA-C.

Originally from Lake Norden, Koistinen received degrees as a licensed practical nurse from Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, South Dakota, and an Associate degree in Nursing from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. He earned a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Sioux Falls and a Family Nurse Practitioner-Master of Nursing degree from Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He has a special interest in the areas of heart health, diabetes care, family medicine and acute care.

“I chose to be a nurse practitioner because I love people and getting to know them, learning and solving problems,” Koistinen said. “Being a nurse practitioner allows me to do all of these every day.”

Previously Koistinen worked for over a year as a nurse practitioner at the Huron Clinic and was a registered nurse at Prairie Lakes Health Care in Watertown for 14 years.

He and his wife Jenilee have 11 children: Meghan, Daren, Landon, Evan, Jaclyn, Braden, Tyson, Mason, Carmen, Marlon, and Martin. When not busy seeing patients, Koistinen enjoys spending time with family, working on home and yard projects, hunting, biking and skiing. He is active in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Koistinen is currently available for appointments at Horizon Health Huron. Please call the clinic at 1-605-554-1015 to make an appointment.
