The city of Huron has some of the most beautiful flower arrangements in the state, thanks to four women who work for the City of Huron in the Parks & Rec Department.
Tricia Larson, Mariah Schweigert, Abby Vaillancourt and Char Polsean switch professions mid-May and go from employees at the Huron School District to “plant whisperers” until school starts up again in the fall.
Abby Vaillancourt said, “We love what we do and to help make the town look beautiful is why we do this.”
With plants at Ravine Lake, the Huron Public Library, Huron Public Library, Winter Park and Downtown Huron, these ladies keep very busy. The flower beds and planters are a mixture of annuals and perennials, and include a rose garden at Winter Park.
Every year there is a color theme that goes along with all of the plants, this year the color theme around Huron is pink and purple.
All of the plants are purchased from East River Nursery.
