HURON — Arlene Walter, 90, of Huron, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at the Mount Olivet Church. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Church section of Ideal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening.
Arlene Verda Decker was born March 17, 1928, in Frankfort to John and Katie Decker. She grew up in the Yale area and graduated from Huron High School. She was united in marriage to Byron Walter August 29,1948.
She attended Huron College and taught three years of country school before becoming a fulltime mom. Later, she worked at the Café at Magness Livestock, Cliff’s Cafe in Yale, and then K-Mart, where she retired.
She is survived by her children, Carmen Holland of Oak View, Calif., Dawn (Larry) Almond of the Black Hills, Dallas Walter of Cavour, and Rex Walter of Huron; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joyce Ybarra of Woodland Hills, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron; grandson, Nathan Walter; and daughter-in-law, Carol Walter.
