Huron golfers ninth in Brookings

BROOKINGS — The defending state champion Sioux Falls O’Gorman Knights ran away with the team title Thursday at the Brookings Invitational Golf Tournament.
The Knights carded a team total of 315, to take a 20-shot win over Aberdeen Central and S.F. Roosevelt, who tied for second, with Watertown at 337 and Yankton at 341.
The Huron Tigers shot a team total of 384, good for ninth place in the 12-team field.

Reese Jansa of Harrisburg earned medalist honors, as she fired a one-over par 73, a stroke ahead of Cassidy Gough from Aberdeen Central. O’Gorman teammates Shannon McCormick and Jenna Sutcliffe tied for third with matching 76s, two strokes ahead of Peyton Tramp of Yankton in fifth place.
Huron was led by Karli Bigelow’s 86, which placed her in a four-way tie for 16th in the field. Kenya Bigelow tied for 24th with an 89 and Bryn Huber shot a 91 to finish in a tie for 31st. Libby Picek shot a 118 to round out the Huron scoring on the day.
The Tigers are back in action on Monday at the Watertown Invitational.
 for an invitational tournament, before hosting the Eastern South Dakota Tournament at Broadland Creek Golf Course next Thursday.
