HURON — Richard R. Mittelstedt, 82, of Huron, passed away on Friday October 18, 2019, in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at the First Congregational Church in Huron, with military honors by the Huron Veteran’s Council. Burial will be at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Richard was born on June 25, 1937, in Wessington Springs to Rudolph and Martha (Huether) Mittelstedt. He was a member of the Army National Guard, and worked as a custodian for the Huron Public School System for 22 years.
Richard married Sarah Ellingsen on August 29, and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Huron.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; his sons, Richard (Jolene) Mittelstedt, and Rodney (Erica Boomsma) Mittelstedt; three grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis (Sharon) Mittelstedt, and Lauren Mittelstedt; three sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
