BLUNT — Rickey Leesman, 70, of Blunt, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at Avera Maryhouse in Pierre surrounded by family.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 18, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pierre with Pastor Ben Theiss officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blunt.
Rickey Ray Leesman was born March 10, 1947, in Pierre to William “Willie” and Lorena (Knodel) Leesman. He graduated from Harrold High School in 1966. He was united in marriage to Barbara Smith August 4, 1967.
He began farming his Dad and Grandpa’s land and had the opportunity to lease and purchase additional land in the Canning and surrounding areas. He started “Leesman Angus” beginning with 40 purebred heifers and grew it into a progressive cattle operation. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Raleigh (Leigh) Leesman of Canning, Angela (Michael) Bollweg of Harrold, Pamela (Bill) Cuny of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; siblings, Anita (Frank) Baca, LeAnn (Randi) Baloun, and Mary Jo (Jeff) Shannon; sister-in-law, Mary Leesman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Leesman; nephew, Wrangler Leesman; and godson, Jonathan Fanger.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Rickey’s arrangements.
