HURON — For 25 years, the annual Papa Luigi’s night as been a fundraiser for the Huron Regional Medical Center Foundation.
So this year, in recognition of the Silver Anniversay anniversary of Papa Luigi, attendees will be kicking up their heels Saturday night.
As the theme this year is Papa Luigi’s Silver Anniversary, attendees are encouraged to dress in silver or in cocktail attire.
The entertainment this year is “Dancing with the Stars,” and there are have seven local celebrity couples dancing. In addition, there are live and silent auction items. Silent auction items are available for bidding online at bidpal.net/papaluigi2024.
Couples competing in this special event are Tom and Jane Meekins, Eric and Sarah Miner, Chris and Teresa Person, Jonathan Wachter and Callee Bauman-Wachter, Kent and Laurie Shelton, Craig and Tasha Lee, and Tony and Emma Loewen. Each of the dances will be based on a theme from a previous year’s Papa Luigi.
All of the dancers have been practicing weekly for an hour or more with Tarin Oyler since September. Tarin is a professional ballroom dancer who, before moving to Huron, operated a Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Houston, Texas.
She has experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, who is an HRMC Foundation board member and the wife of HRMC Dr. Vincent Oyler.
Standing room only tickets for the dancing competition are available for the event. HRMC Foundation executive director Levi Kary said all of the tickets for the social and dinner have been sold.
“We are selling standing room only tickets for the program only,” Kary said. “Those tickets will get you in at 7:15 so you’ll be able to watch the dancing part of it.”
